When I was a kid, I loved sitting in my grandmother’s den, listening to records and eight-tracks on her stereo. Her collection was eclectic, ranging from gospel and country to old Cream albums my dad and uncle and left behind when they moved away. The song I remember best, though, was a comedy piece, Ray Stevens’ “Mississippi Squirrel Revival.” It never failed to delight and amuse me, especially when my grandmother would sing and laugh along.
My grandmother passed away the week before last, and so I’d like to post this video in the memory of her, and of the happiness and laughter that always surrounded her.
