Black Whales Rising

Black Whales performed an important public service at Sunset Tavern last night: they reminded the crowd why it’s always worthwhile to arrive early enough to watch the opening bands. Their well-crafted, likeable, sing-along tunes and their youthful exuberance blew me away; I was ready to excitedly and shamelessly declare myself a fan only halfway through the set. Combine this talent with the fact that they’re, well, really freaking cute, and you’ll understand why I’m treating the hand-labeled CD I picked up last night as valuable memorabilia — these guys are going to hit it big.
