Cloud Cult @ Neumos

I’ll avoid any of the obvious jokes about the aptness of their name, but Minneapolis’ Cloud Cult drew an extremely dedicated audience to their headlining gig at Neumos. It’s easy to understand why: their live show was textured, engaging, and artsy. In addition to turning their ears to the band, the audience was offered eye candy in the form of creative and colorful lighting and two painters working live on stage. Add these two to the five band members and sold-out crowd, drape them all liberally in smoke machine fog, and you get a sense of just how intense and dreamlike the experience probably was for many of the fans.
