Le Shat Noir wormed (jerked, really) its way into my heart by pushing a couple of different boundaries when they played The Funhouse Tuesday night, challenging both people’s mental and physical comfort zones. The latter push came in the form of sheer volume: if there were a “Loudest Band In Seattle” contest, I’d bet on Le Shat Noir placing at least in the top two, probably battling it out with The Valley. More amusing was to watch lead singer Doug behave in ways that no one even remotely expected, like jumping off the stage and running madly through the club screaming into the mic, or announcing that he needed a bathroom break and singing an entire song from a stall in the men’s room. I do love a good night of tasty, tasty mayhem.
